Whichway announces Regional Indigenous Music Workshops for March 06 - MusicNSW

Whichway, a project of MusicNSW, is pleased to announce six music workshops to go ahead in regional NSW. The workshops are designed to meet the needs of Indigenous musicians in local regional areas and Whichway staff will be working with local community groups and organisations to bring the workshops to life.

Following an expressions of interest stage, six organisations and community groups were chosen to work with Whichway to develop music workshops to meet the needs of their communities. Musicians and music industry professionals from across the state will act as facilitators and presenters at the workshops.

Murray Lower Darling Rivers Indigenous Nations (in Deniliquin), Grafton and Maclean TAFE, Arts Mid North Coast, Outback Arts (in Brewarrina and Bourke) and Collarenebri Local Aboriginal Land Council are currently working with their Indigenous communities and Whichway to develop workshops covering performance skills, recording, instrumentation, behind the scenes in the music industry, funding and grant writing, video production, sound and lighting, setting up a local radio station and music management. The two-day workshops are scheduled to happen throughout March.
