Defamation and Sedition Laws Public Seminar - MusicNSW

January 1, 2006 represented a new dawn for the Australian media and arts industries. Learning about the effects and consequences of changes to defamation laws is of vital importance. Will the new Defamation Act 2005 make any difference? What are the day to day implications for journalists, writers, film-makers and bloggers?

The Arts Law Centre of Australia, www.artslaw.com.au (the national community legal centre for the arts), in association with Frankel Lawyers, www.frankellawyers.com.au (Sydney media and intellectual property law firm of over 25 years experience), invite you to this special public information evening.

A panel of experts and industry representatives will discuss the impact of the new defamation act and possible impact on the arts and media from changes to defamation and sedition laws. Following our key note addresses, the audience will also be invited to ask questions of our panel of experts.

The seminar will be held in the Faculty of Law of the University of Technology, Haymarket, Sydney at 6pm April 3rd 2006. It promises to be lively, instructive and thought provoking evening. Entry is by donation to the Arts Law Centre of Australia.
