Over the last two years Lion Mountain studio has been skilling young people up on songwriting, beat making and production within the four walls of a custom built cupboard studio at Marrickville’s Radio Skid Row. Now they are celebrating with the compilation release of Sounds of the Lion which showcases some of the best talent and native sounds emerging from Australia’s Sierra Leonean community.
Every Sunday Lion Mountain Studios works with members of the newly arrived and refugee African community, holding workshops and one-on-one sessions with members of Sydney’s electronic and hip hop community including acts such asSeekae, Killaqueenz, Thomas William and members of the ONEOFOUR Collective.
To celebrate the release of Sounds of the Lion participants will be performing at the official launch which will be held at Red Rattler in Marrickville on March 10.
