ARIA Week 2014 - MusicNSW

ARIA Week 2014 has announced it’s a week-long program of gigs, showcases, conferences and events which will take place in and around Sydney in the lead-up to the ARIA Awards from November 21 – December 4.

ARIA Week has promised to showcase Australia’s best new artists and will demonstrate the wealth of talent and opportunity the Australian music scene has to offer.

Paul McGuinness, who managed U2 for 35 years will be leading a Q&A session with John Watson (Manager of Silverchair, Gotye, Missy Higgins and Cold Chisel) at the invitation-only ARIA Masterclass on Tuesday, November 25.

ARIA CEO, Dan Rosen said: “ARIA is delighted to be welcoming Paul McGuinness to Sydney as the keynote speaker for this year’s ARIA Masterclass. As U2’s manager for more than three decades, Paul guided the band from pub gigs in Dublin to being the biggest band in the world. It will be great to hear some of the unique insights he has gathered from his many years working in our industry.”

Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Troy Grant said: “ARIA Week is an extension of everything wonderful about the ARIA Awards, a week-long celebration of the best of Australian music, here in the home of the nation’s creative industries, Sydney.”

“The NSW Government is a proud partner of ARIA Week through our tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, and we look forward to seeing artists, music fans and industry professionals fill the city’s live performance venues for a week of fantastic showcases, gigs and other events,” he said.

In other exciting news, ARIA have announced that Kings Cross IGNITE: Heat The Street, which is a joint initiative with The Live Music Office, APRA AMCOS and the City Of Sydney, will joining the 2014 ARIA Week program for the first time. ARIA believes this will encourage the Australian music industry together to support live music venues in Kings Cross, by showcasing an afternoon of free live music from 2.00pm on Sunday, November 23.

EMC and EMC Play will also have a presence at ARIA Week 2014 this December 2-4, hosting informative panels, networking opportunities, masterclasses and workshops featuring acts like Porter Robinson, Steve Aoki, Will Sparks and Nina Las Vegas as well as hosting live electronic music showcases in the evenings.

If you run a Sydney venue, you can become an official part of the ARIA Week program by registering your shows on the ARIA Week website – ariaawards.com.au/aria-week/register.  Registered shows will be added to the list of official gigs on the ARIA Week website.
