INDENT PRESENTS – MUSIC INDUSTRY WORKSHOPS - MusicNSW

The semi-final dates for Youth Rock 2015 have been announced and yet again it is promising to be one of the most exciting events of Youth Week this year! Between 15 – 18 April, our youth project Indent will be presenting music industry workshops to the Youth Rock’s semi-finalists, providing them with real-world skills to get their music careers off the ground. Youth Rock is a state wide talent search competition that provides an opportunity for young people aged 12-25 to showcase their music in front of a big audience and music industry expert judges. Previous winners of the competition included prolific Aussie acts such as Silverchair, Alex Lloyd and Hayley Warner.

Last year over a hundred bands participated in the event, performing in front of music and recording industry professionals during the 2014 Youth Week celebrations. In addition to the music industry presence at Youth Rock, 2500+ punters attend the band heats, so there is no doubt that Youth Rock opens doors for young NSW-based bands.

INDENT PRESENTS – MUSIC INDUSTRY WORKSHOPS:

Songwriting 101 – Brisbane-based singer songwriter and 2012 triple j Unearthed winner Thelma Plum, Sydney’s art-pop artist Jess Montaigne and Dan Mac of Art vs Science will share their songwriting tips & tricks, with a focus on how to craft original music and beat writers block.

Music Industry Q & A – an interactive question and answer session between an Indent moderator, Thelma Plum, Jess Montaigne and Dan Mac, focusing on how to breakthrough as a young band in the Australian music industry today, and how to make a band stand out from the crowd.
