The 2012 Deadly Awards Nominations Now Open - MusicNSW

Nominations are now open for The 18th International Deadly Awards will be held on September 25 at Sydney Opera House in 2012. Often referred to as The Deadlys, the award aim to recognise the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to the Australian society and communities.

The Deadlys showcase a diverse range of outstanding achievements by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in an attempt to shape and identify national and local role models to inspire our young people and the community as a whole.

Nominations are now open and relate to outstanding achievement during the period of 1st July 2011 – 30th June 2012.

The selection criteria is as follows:

  • Significant contribution to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and to Australian Society
  • Demonstrated achievement in their field
  • An inspirational role model for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples
The awards cover a range of categories, from music to dance to sports to community achievements. The awards within The Deadly’s music category are:
MOST PROMISING NEW TALENT IN MUSIC
SINGLE OF THE YEAR
ALBUM OF THE YEAR
BAND OF THE YEAR
MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR
FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR
HIP HOP ARTIST OF THE YEAR
