SOUND SUMMIT ANNOUNCES NEW CO-DIRECTOR FOR 2013 - MusicNSW

Sound Summit Festival of Independent and Innovative music is delighted to announce the appointment of their new Co-Director. Liza Harvey will? work on the 14th annual program of events alongside ongoing Co-Directors Daniel Gottlieb and Nic Warnock to form an expanded team of highly skilled and passionate individuals.

Liza Harvey has been an active member of the independent music community both in Sydney and Brisbane. Harvey’s experience stems from a strong background in community radio, having acted as Events & Fundraiser Coordinator for Brisbane’s community station 4ZZZ, before relocating to Sydney to become Station Coordinator at 2RRR. Harvey has also organized several tours for local and interstate bands across Australia.

Harvey will work alongside ongoing Co-Directors Daniel Gottlieb and Nic Warnock. Gottlieb has promoted and curated shows across a number of cities including Washington D.C., Austin (SXSW), New York and Sydney and currently presents & produces a weekly experimental radio program called ‘Spiral Sounds’ on Sydney’s community station 2SER. Warnock plays in numerous local bands, and is the owner of DIY record label R.I.P. Society, which has released records by Woollen Kits, Circle Pit and Royal Headache.

Together they will curate an exciting program of events including live music showcases, panels and workshops which will span the length and breadth of the contemporary independent and innovative music community. Festival dates and program details will be announced over the coming months.

Sound Summit will be once again housed as a project of MusicNSW, who will be assisting with the festival’s logistical and organizational requirements as well as contributing to Sound Summit’s highly popular panels and workshops. Kirsty Brown and Greg Clennar from MusicNSW will be assisting the team in bringing the 2013 festival to life.

Musicians and the broader independent music community can apply to be part of the Sound Summit festival through an official call-out scheduled for around April/May.
