Indent unveils second round of speakers for FEEDBACK : A music conference for young people - MusicNSW

Indent, the peak network for all-ages entertainment in NSW, is proud to present FEEDBACK – a full day of music industry guest speakers, panels, take-home resources, live music and networking, especially for 12-25 year olds, held in collaboration with Vivid Ideas 2013!

With less than 3 weeks to go, Indent is very excited to announce 7 new additions to our already massive list of industry guests, including a second keynote speaker!

Singer/songwriter, media personality and actor Brendan Maclean will be joining the FEEDBACK program as our second keynote speaker, joining the previously announced Urthboy (Elefant Traks). From The Voice to Amanda Palmer to the state of independent music, Maclean has made a point of getting his opinions heard – loud and clear! But is it worth it? Is he making big enemies in a little pond? And why is his pen so often drawn from the lyric sheet to the broadsheet? Hear about all of this and more on June 10!

Maclean says, “MusicNSW has always been a vital resource in my career, so personally it’s a pleasure to return the favour. I’m looking forward to sharing the pricklier moments in my career in Australian music.”

Sweetie Zamora (Remote Control Records, FBi Radio) and Samantha Clode (triple j magazine / MusicNSW) will both be joining our Don’t Stop Believin’ panel, which involves a discussion between five industry reps who will be sharing with us their past trials and tribulations on their road to success in the music business. They will share their personal experiences with a few (no doubt hilarious) anecdotes along the way – an inspiring session for anyone wanting to hear the realities of pursuing a career in the music industry, from those in the know.

Claire Collins (Association of Artist Managers), Nicole Cheek (triple j Unearthed), Greg Morrow (APRA) and Scott Fitzsimons (Street Press Australia) will be joining us for ‘Industry Speed Dating’ – a chance to ask music industry service providers some questions about who they are, what they do, and how you can access their services. Come prepared with questions!

These new additions will be joining the existing lineup of:

MC for the day, Dom Alessio (triple j’s Home & Hosed), Keynote speaker Urthboy (Elefant Traks), Jay Whalley (Frenzal Rhomb) Nick Yates (We Are Unified), Graham Nixon (Resist Records), Bec Reato (Deathproof PR), Joey McGahey (Australian Hysteria Magazine), Stu Harvey (triple j’s Short Fast Loud / Shock Records), Spod (musician / video director), Nic Warnock (RIP Society), Adam Lewis (GoodGod Small Club / Radiant on FBi), Emily York (Penny Drop), Nicci Reid (Wing & Gill), Greg Carey (Umbrella Music), Jonno Seidler (The Vine / One A Day) and DJ Joyride.

FEEDBACK’s interactive panels and keynote speakers will offer helpful advice and entertaining anecdotes to musicians, young aspiring industry professionals and music fanatics alike. Whether an aspiring musician, or looking to forge a career in any of the broader aspects of the music industry, FEEDBACK will bring you real-life examples on how to succeed from a young age.

Head along to FEEDBACK to snag vital resources, network with music industry pros, and learn a stack about tricks of the trade.
