Sound Summit Announces First Round of Artists - MusicNSW

Sound Summit Festival of independent and innovative music is excited to announce the first additions to the 2013 festival, the festival’s first year in Sydney. This year’s lineup cements Sound Summit as Australia’s premier platform for showcasing new, innovative and independent music.

Sound Summit will take place in various locations around Sydney, with a focus on independent and community DIY spaces around Marrickville and Redfern, from Thursday November 7th to Sunday November 10th 2013.

For this year’s edition, Sound Summit is pleased to announce five international headliners, unique and innovative in their own right across a variety of genres. We welcome German experimental glitch pioneer Oval (DE), Detroit punk outfit Tyvek (USA), British Casio-house conjurer Heatsick (UK), technoise misfit Container (USA) and Minneapolis DIY “mod-punkers” Real Numbers (USA), who will be headlining the weekend. All five international acts draw from different currents in musical innovation and resonate with current trends appearing in contemporary Australian music.

The strength of the international lineup is not to be outdone by the quality and diversity of the first round of Australian acts. Sound Summit is honoured to have Ooga Boogas, Bushwalking, Marco Fusinato, Four Door, Angel Eyes, The Stevens, Jon Watts, Bare Grillz, Unity Floors, Cured Pink, Matthew Brown, Housewives and Exhaustion along for the party.

Sound Summit is thrilled to reveal our first Sydney venues, comprising of some of the city’s best community and DIY spaces including The Red Rattler, Marrickville Bowls Club, 107 Projects & other exciting creative spaces to be announced soon!

This is just a taste of what can be expected from the 2013 Sound Summit, with a full artist and showcase announcement to follow in mid-September, and full conference and workshop program to be announced in mid-October!
