Industry Issues

One of our roles is to represent artists and music businesses to government through seeking greater acknowledgment for our sector, the addressing of issues and barriers and strategic support for the development of artists and the framework that enables the commercial environment to exist. Part of this involves directly dealing with specific industry issues such as legislative barriers to live music or public liability premiums.  It also includes looking at the big picture on a state, national and international level and advocating for development strategies. In order for our voice to remain relevant it is essential that artists and operators of the Music Industry see us as accessible and that we are perceived as being an organisation created to be of service and used by those we represent. We therefore encourage direct input from all NSW artists and music businesses regarding issues and barriers that are being faced. A range of our current advocacy campaigns, the history for these and the ongoing actions are documented in the following pages, with more to come; Entertainment Act Review Government Investment in Contemporary Music (Federal) Government Investment in Contemporary Music (State) Protecting Live Music Public Liability Should you wish to be involved in any of our current advocacy campaigns, or wish to discuss other issues or barriers please contact Eliza Sarlos - MusicNSW Creative Director.
