MusicNSW is diving into CD sleeves, band T-shirts, posters, logos and more with the next stop in 2013’s free workshop series. “Beyond The T-Shirt: Making Artwork That Matters” will take place at the Label State pop-up store on Oxford St, Darlinghurst, on Thursday 11 July.

Aaron Hayward (Debaser – that’s the pic above, Aaron in the middle…)
Named after the Pixies’ tune, Debaser – Aaron Hayward and David Homer – have won three ARIA gongs for Best Cover Art, while in 2010 they took home the London AANDAS Award for their Empire Of The Sun illustrations. Their clients include EMI, Warner, Universal, and the Sydney Opera House, while you’ve also seen their handiwork via Bernard Fanning, 360, and Angus Stone.
Sonny Day (Webuyyourkids)
Exhibiting artists and commercial illustrators, WBYK is Newtown duo Sonny Day & Biddy Maroney, For over 15 years now Sonny and Biddy have created artwork for musos such as Something For Kate or Birds Of Tokyo, festivals like St Jerome’s Laneway, record labels like Popfrenzy, and clients like Pitchfork, MTV and Qantas. They even designed MusicNSW’s website.
Grant Barnes (LabelState.com)
Making merch easy for indie acts like DZ Deathrays or clients like FBi Radio is online platform Label State, which sells band, DJ, record label and other music companies’ T-shirts directly to fans across the globe – with no set up fees, printing costs, or minimum orders for you to worry about.
Dale Harrison (The Herd)
As bassist with one of Oz’s premier hip-hop outfits, Dale (aka Rok Poshtya) has released five albums and sold out gigs across the land. When not on stage his creative juices flow as a graphic designer – Dale’s responsible for most of the artwork associated with his label, Elefant Traks.
