Sound Summit Call for 2012 Applications - MusicNSW

Applications are now officially open for musicians and speakers to take part in this year’s Sound Summit!

Sound Summit ‘festival of independent and innovative music’ is set to take place in Newcastle NSW over the Labour Day long weekend (September 27th – 30th) and alongside inter-arts festival TINA (This Is Not Art).

Now in it’s 13th year, Sound Summit continues to provide a platform for celebrating, exposing and furthering the work ofmusicians, producers, composers, labels, promoters and industry personnel working at the forefront of Australia’s vibrant independent music scene. Through a diverse schedule of showcases, performances, panels, workshops, Q&A’s and debates, Sound Summit gives both the artist and attendee the opportunity to participate in the global exchange of ideas, techniques issues and trends affecting the contemporary musical landscape.

In 2012, Sound Summit has broadened its scope even further – looking at showcasing more musicians, workshops, events and panels than ever before. We are now calling for proposals from a broad spectrum of participants whose practice relates to independent, original and emerging music to contribute to a new and exciting program of events. Whether you’re a musician, producer, artist, filmmaker, author, journalist, publication or fan – if you have an exciting initiative or sound for the festival then we want to hear from you!

We’re interested in receiving proposals that explore any dimension of contemporary music – be it technological, political, theoretical, media, industry, fan or performance based.

Applications close Friday 25th May!
