Sound Advice comes to Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre! Meet the key players of the music industry and find out exactly what they do. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or want to get your foot in the door in management, labels, events or PR, Sound Advice will give you the tools and knowledge you need to navigate the music industry.

Through talks followed by a speed-meet, you’ll get to know industry reps from Western Sydney locals Bodega Collective, management powerhouse Love + Rent (Kwame), publicity pros Positive Feedback (Rex Orange County, SAFIA), and booking agency Collective Artists (Body Type, Manu Crooks).

Kal is an artist and musician working out of Western Sydney.

He writes and performs alongside DJ Atro in Slim Set and presents the Wednesday Sunset show on FBi Radio. The duo direct and release their content independently and are currently working towards a full-length release.

Kal is a 2019 resident at Parramatta Artists Studios and is a founding director of Pari, a gallery dedicated to developing Western Sydney’s creative community.

Manager, Love + Rent (Kwame)

Courtney is an artist manager at Love + Rent, an Australian based artist management company breaking diverse acts such as Fritz and RAAVE TAPES.

Courtney manages independent Sydney artist/producer Kwame. Having supported acts such as Skepta, Migos, 6LACK and AJ Tracey, and touring with Peking Duk and Tkay Maidza, Kwame has sealed his position as the new king of the Australian hip-hop scene, with over 5 million streams between the last 2 singles and winning triple j’s Unearthed Artist of the Year and two FBi Radio SMAC awards.

Outside of artist management, Courtney also works at Resist Records (Parkway Drive, Polaris).

Rhiannon Cook

Publicist, Positive Feedback

With over 15 years experience in the entertainment industry across music, film and tv, Rhiannon Cook joined the Positive Feedback team in 2014.

Since then she has worked on the ARIA #6 debut album from Alison Wonderland and the subsequent sold out national Wonderland Warehouse Project series of events; ARIA #2 debut album and four sold out national tours for SAFIA; albums, EP’s and tours for Rex Orange County, Confidence Man, The Jungle Giants, Allday, RL Grime, Porter Robinson, What So Not, The Kite String Tangle, SLUMBERJACK, and Tora.

Creative director, Bodega Collective

Peter Sabbagh is one of the four creative directors at Bodega Collective (alongside Dan Noordermeer, Jourdan D’amore and Tom Elliott) and is also one half of dance duo Korky Buchek.

Western Sydney-based record label and management company Bodega Collective is home to artists, producers and creatives alike including Raj Mahal, Kymie, Lauren and Gibrillah.

Bodega has been working actively since 2015 to push boundaries and culture to new levels through collaboration and an infectious energy that has been definitely been felt.

REBECCA YOUNG

Booking Agent, Collective Artists

Rebecca Young began her career interning for popular Sydney club night Purple Sneakers, before becoming an agent at booking agency Artist Voice in 2011.

The agency was acquired by global giant William Morris Endeavour in 2015 where Young worked as a senior agent.

In late 2016, Young launched a new boutique agency, Collective Artists, as part of the Inertia Group. Her current roster includes Aldous Harding, Ali Barter, City Calm Down, D.D Dumbo, Julia Jacklin, Manu Crooks, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Sarah Blasko, Tiny Little Houses and more.
