Travel Beyond Booking Portal Deals

Access discounted Virgin Australia fares for domestic and selected international flights.

Discounted Virgin Australia fares are available now through the Travel Beyond Group booking portal (see below) and include up to 7% discounts on all domestic fares – excluding sale fares*.

The deal also supports international travel with discounts up to 15% (depending on destination) to international destinations including Los Angeles, New Zealand and Virgin Australia short haul destinations across Asia and the South Pacific*. MusicNSW members also have access to specialist ‘entertainment fares’ for Premium Economy and Business Class, which include even larger discounts to selected key music destinations including Los Angeles and New York.  Please note discounts for domestic and international flights are not applicable to sale fares. These international discounts are limited to Virgin Australia operated flights and not partner airlines.

Access one free date change on domestic Virgin Australia flights.

MusicNSW members travelling on Virgin Australia flights within Australia will also be able to make one free date change to their booking.^

^ One free date change for bookings on Virgin Australia domestic flights only using designated AMIN music industry fare. Fare and tax difference charges may apply. Changes must be made through your travel management company and not via the Virgin Australia Guest Contact Centre. Changes must be made before midnight prior to the flights scheduled departure. MusicNSW members will also have access to discounted membership of the Virgin Australia Lounge.

The Travel Beyond Booking Portal (below) offers a reduced rate of $240 joining fee and a reduced $375 annual fee saving you $135 from the usual joining fee and annual fee of $750.

Access discounted rates on car hire.

Car discounts change daily but the Travel Beyond Booking Portal (below) allows you to book Travel Beyond Group’s specially negotiated rates, and assists by providing reduced excesses. In some instances, the portal can also assist by enabling a reduced age limit (full licence over 21 instead of 25). Please always ensure that you read the conditions prior to accepting.

The major car companies can be booked via the portal including Europcar, Thrifty, Hertz, Budget and Avis. Compact through to 8 seaters can be booked directly on the portal with a request field if you require a 12 seater or commercial vehicle.

Hotels & apartments

The Travel Beyond Portal (below) allows MusicNSW members to book hotels and apartments at best rate including Quest, Mantra, Oaks Hotels and Resorts, Accor, IHG, Starwood, Crown and other boutique properties both in Australia and internationally for groups under 10.

Selected hotels and apartments will also provide free wifi and onsite parking. This is hotel by hotel, please look at the conditions of each hotel when booking them on the portal.

So what exactly is the AMIN & Travel Beyond Deal?

The AMIN and Travel Beyond Group partnership provides the music industry (individual state/territory membership bodies that fall under AMIN including MusicNSW) the opportunity to have a dedicated online travel booking tool. The tool can be utilised to book flights, accommodation and ground requirements with substantial discounts on Virgin Australia flights, accommodation and car hire.

What airline carriers can be booked?

Domestically (“Quick Booking” on the online portal): Virgin Australia, Qantas and Jetstar airlines are available with real-time pricing and availability. Internationally (“Custom Booking” on the online portal): All airlines internationally with discounts on selected international airlines.

I am an artist based in NSW, and my manager/booking agent books my tours for me. How do I go about the booking process?

Your manager/booking agent can self-register and simply tick a box within the self-registration process that flags them as a travel booker. They then need to list who they are booking on behalf of and we will set them up to be able to book for you.

I am a manager/booking agent/tour promoter based in NSW but I work with acts based in other states in Australia. How does the booking process work for me?

Exactly the same as above. As long as you register with your membership number for MusicNSW, we are then able to link you to your acts that have registered via their membership numbers in other states/territories so that you can book on their behalf.

I am an artist based in NSW, but my manager (who books my tours) is based in another state. How does the booking process work across states and territories?

As above. You need to self-register via the MusicNSW website. Your manager will have to register with their state/territory membership through their music body and request that they book on behalf of you and we will then link your accounts together so they can book for you.

I am in a self-managed band with lots of members – to access the travel deal, can just one band member apply for a MusicNSW membership and book the flights on behalf of the whole band? Or do we each need to sign up?

Each member will need to sign up as a MusicNSW member and use their membership number to enable them access to register for the travel portal. Once all members are registered, we will then link all members up under the band name and can nominate a travel booker to book on behalf of the whole band.

I am a music industry professional who wants to travel interstate to attend music conferences and networking opportunities. Can I use this travel deal when booking my flights?

You certainly can. Once you have self-registered, you are able to utilise the tool for all of your travel requirements including conferences and networking opportunities.

If a touring group is more than 10, can they still access best rates for hotels and apartments?

For all group bookings you will need to use the tool and make a request via the “Custom Request” button. One of our dedicated travel consultants will make contact with you to provide a group quotation for you. All Travel Beyond Group details are located on the AMIN travel portal.

HOW TO BOOK

Once you have booked a domestic flight with Virgin Australia, note your booking reference number.

  1. Email music@virginaustralia.com with your booking reference number and MusicNSW membership number a minimum of 2 days prior to travel.

*No one piece of baggage can weigh more than 32kg while dimension limits also apply – see here for more information. Virgin Australia cannot guarantee that checked baggage or excess baggage will be uplifted as this is subject to aircraft loads. Requests to obtain music industry baggage must be made via email at least two or more business days prior to departure. Music Baggage allowance is permitted on Virgin Australia owned and operated domestic services only and is not applicable to flights operated by partner airlines. Music Industry baggage allowance is subject to the Virgin Australia Condition of Carriage. Any booking of 10 or more guests should be completed through the standard Business Events and Groups bookings process, and will not be subject to the guidelines above, but rather will be subject to Virgin Australia's Entertainment Terms and Conditions to which reference must be made. Artists travelling on Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA) network must flag their travel destinations when requesting the music allowance as aircraft types operating those routes (ATR, F100, E190) may have smaller capacity to uplift equipment. Membership inquiries should be directed to the relevant industry organisation. Velocity Platinum and Gold Members and Business Class guests can request the music baggage allowance or the appropriate status baggage allowance. Access free baggage allowance of three pieces (at 23kgs per piece) for artists on domestic Qantas flights.

Qantas Musicians Additional Baggage Allowance

This offer includes a free baggage allowance of three pieces (at 23kgs per piece) for artists travelling with a musical instrument or touring equipment. This baggage allowance is available on Qantas and QantasLink domestic services (within Australia with a ‘QF’ flight number operated by Qantas) and is not applicable to flights operated by partner airlines. Flights must be booked two or more business days prior to departure.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for this special offer, the musician must be travelling with a musical instrument or touring equipment and be a current member of MusicNSW. Customers may be asked to show their association membership during check in. Alternatively requests submitted on behalf of touring acts booked via an Australian promoter (that are members of MusicNSW) will be accepted without the need to supply a membership number for each individual musician.

HOW TO BOOK

Qantas encourages eligible musicians to book flights via a specialist music industry travel agency. For bookings of less than 10 customers agents should request the Musicians Additional Baggage Allowance via email to: qicmusicbag@qantas.com.au The email should include the following details:

  • Booking reference 
  • Musical association (i.e. MusicNSW)
  • MusicNSW membership number
  • Type of musical instrument or equipment.

For Group bookings of 10 or more customers, agents should contact Qantas Group Sales on 132624 and provide:

Special notes
  • The additional baggage allowance is subject to aircraft loads and cannot be guaranteed
  • Maximum weight of each piece cannot exceed 32kg
  • Heavy charges apply to customers with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg per piece who exceed that limit
  • Passengers travelling on QantasLINK regional flights should be advised that aircraft types operating those routes may have smaller capacity to uplift equipment.
