NSW Minister for the Arts, Bob Debus, today announced $95,000 in Indent Partnership Grants that will enable young people across NSW to stage all-ages, drug and alcohol-free music events.
“This program allows young people to create their own entertainment programs whilst developing organisational and social skills in a safe, drug and alcohol-free environment”.
“Our Partnership Grants program is essentially the heart of the Indent project. It is vital for kick-starting and reinvigorating all-ages entertainment in regional and metropolitan NSW”. Greg Carey, Indent Project Manager.
The partnership grants are funded by Indent, the peak youth all-ages entertainment project of MusicNSW.
Mr Debus said that the 35 funded groups demonstrated exceptional event proposals for youth-driven entertainment in their local communities.
Since 2000 the Indent program has supported more than 700 events across NSW via the Partnership Grants Program with a combined attendance of close to 150,000 young people including: Shoreshocked Music Festival (North Sydney), Down The Park (Sutherland) & Fishers Gig (Campbelltown).
Grant recipients are also eligible for free workshops in event management and music business skills to help prepare them for careers in the entertainment industry.
