Rockets - MusicNSW

Rockets play music deriving from stories told over coffee and cigarettes. A unique yet familiar sound, they draw influence and inspiration from the likes of Denny Crane, Dallas Green & Young Jeezy.

What was the first band you saw live?
The first band I ever saw live was Coheed & Cambria as a youngster. I was pretty impressed by everything that night.

What’d you learn from them?
I learnt from that night that Mexicans can play guitar too, and pretty well for that.

Got any pre-gig rituals?
I take it pretty easy before a show. I drink a lot of water. A lot of water.

What do you think the most important issue affecting artists in NSW is today?
Probably the diminishing live music scene, especially here in Sydney. There always seems to be a venue closing, or pulling live music from their venue. Even great venues like Oxford Art Factory & Spectrum seem to face a daily battle to remain open.

If you weren’t a musician, what do you reckon you’d be doing?
I’d probably be trying to be a musician!
