Hurry up and get your submission together because July 9th marks the opening of the earlybird submission for Australian Artists for South by Southwest! South by Southwest is the world’s biggest and most prestigious music event.
South by Southwest is considered a springboard to international stardom. It has been held in Austin for over 25 years. More than 300 Australian bands are expected to apply and get earlybird showcase submission for this year’s South by Southwest.
Submissions are done online through Sonicbids, which is an Electronic Press Kit that allows artists to upload songs, bios, website and other materials. After uploading the electronic press kit, a committee of over 100 professional evaluators looks them over and makes their decisions.
The cost is $33 from July 9 and going up to $45 on September 6 and closing on October 11, a month earlier than the closing time last year.
Earlybird submission are opening this early for Australian bands in order for there to be plenty of time to give the artists to acquire working visas for the U.S. and also apply for Federal and state government.
SXSW is the one and only international music event to have representation from Australia. It has also been the start for many great acts including John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins, Wolfmother and helped others such as Kimbra, Temper Trap, DZ Deathrays, Alpine, Emma Louise, Cut Copy and Tame Impala.
In March 2013, over 70 Australian artists out of a pool of 250 were invited to play an official showcase. These artists competed with 2250 other musicians in 113 venues of which 597 came from 55 foreign countries other than the US.
Hurry up and submit your electronic press kit while the evaluators ears are still crisp!
