The Groundswell Indigenous Music Touring Project are now accepting applications for it’s inaugral year. The Groudswell is an opportunity for three Indigenous artists (solo or groups) who come from NSW, QLD or VIC for a three week tour of the east coast of Australia. Closing date for applications is Monday the 20th of July.
The professional promoted, advertised, organised east coast tour will take the three successful artists (from each state) into some of the premier venues on this side of the country. As well as providing access for each successful artist to have access to career development support from music industry professionals to assist them in advancing their live performance careers.
To apply you must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent and permnamemntly residing in Qld, NSW or Vic, you must have a current or upcoming release and live performance experience. Artist coveral all music styles are encouraged to apply.
The Groundswell project responds to the Cultural Ministers Councils Indigenous Contemporary Music Action Plan. The tour aims to introduce music fans to a new generation of talented Indigenous musicians. The inaugural tour is a partnership between Arts NSW, Arts QLD, Arts Victoria and the Commonwealth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.
