Vol.2 steps further into the world of DIY, partnering with local scene builders PUSH Magazine to bring you a showcase of some of Sydney’s most dynamic music acts: punk band Perfect Actress, improv jazz duo Manfredo Lament & electronic artist Sweet Boy Sonnet.
Come through to Unholy – an abandoned church turned music venue – and catch live music, make a badge or two, and swap mixtapes with a stranger.

MusicNSW works, creates and listens on unceded Aboriginal land across the state. We honour elders past and present and acknowledge all First Nations peoples as the original music makers, storytellers and knowledge holders. Always was, always will be.

On stage are four people playing instruments. Their names are Naomi, Gus, Darren and Marcus, and they are Sydney’s most Nicole Kidman-coded, reverbed-out "post"/“punk”/"new wave"/"goth" band, Perfect Actress. While diva worship is front and centre of Perfect Actress’ mission, their musical pedigree goes far and wide, featuring past and present members from bands as diverse as BV, California Girls, Carnations, Collarbones, New Age Group, and World’s Only.

Birthed from two university friends and a humble Cafe residency off of Oxford St in Oct 2021, Manfredo Lament is the fully improvised music group led by Kurt Lam on synth and keys, and Gabriel Haslam on drums. The group have cemented their place in the Australian underground music scene, spearheading a new generation of improvised and instrumental bands in Sydney. Through a genre-fluid approach to improvisation, the sound of each show is a unique blend of musical styles, personalities and influences of each performer on stage, weaving its way through various fluctuating feels and genres.

Sweet Boy Sonnet is the electronic project of Sonnet Curé, a singer, producer and performer from Sydney/Eora. Known for her commanding stage presence and mercurial voice, Sonnet’s music blends grunge, EDM, and experimental pop. Backed by a hardware based band, her performances combine high energy electro beats, acid synth lines and dynamic live mixing. Sweet Boy Sonnet delivers a rich and ethereal show that is not shy of the theatrics and drama.
