Welcome to our Ambassadors, joining forces to shape the future of NSW music

MusicNSW

We are so excited to announce our inaugural Ambassador Program, bringing together a group of respected artists united by a vision for the future of NSW music culture. Spanning genres, communities and regions, each Ambassador has chosen to lend their voice to our work as the state’s peak body for contemporary music.

Jem Siow (SPEED)

Our Managing Director Joe Muller is proud to share the inaugural cohort: Alex The Astronaut, Jamaica Moana, Jannah Beth, Jem Siow (SPEED), Zeppelin Hamilton (Velvet Trip) and Zoe Catterall (The Buoys):

“Each of the artists joining us as ambassadors are already so embedded as role models within the NSW music ecosystem - shaping what independent music scenes can look like, leading through their actions and bringing their communities with them. Alex, Jamaica, Jannah, Jem, Zeppelin and Zoe don’t just make incredible music, they are each active in building a music culture that supports those around them to do the same. We are honoured to stand alongside them as we continue to shape our work as an organisation, in service of a NSW music ecosystem where artists can grow sustainable careers, communities are connected and supported, and music culture is properly valued - with the wellbeing of artists at the centre.”

The announcement coincides with the launch of our new MusicNSW brand that reflects our belief that a flourishing music sector must be built from the ground up, and from the edges in - shaped by the artists and communities who live it. Our new website (welcome!) is set to connect the NSW sector and help artists and industry workers navigate building skills, connections and new opportunities. This includes a NSW music industry directory, tools for finding grants, opportunities and jobs in music, and a dedicated resource library for artists.

New program opportunities for NSW artists right across the state will be announced in the coming weeks - sign up for updates.

More about our Ambassadors

JAMAICA MOANA

Jamaica Moana is a non-binary Māori (Ngāpuhi/Tainui) and Samoan artist, rapper, and creative director based in Sydney, known for blending ancestral culture with rap, R&B, and soul. For Jamaica, joining MusicNSW as an Ambassador is an extension of what their art has always done: insist that more voices belong in the room.

"Kia'Ora! I'm super grateful to be a MusicNSW Ambassador! They are aligned with my beliefs of artist-centred projects in all forms, especially how vital it is to have this within our local communities - it's a blessing to be amongst such a talented cohort who vibe with the same! Thank you to MusicNSW for having our back, from an emerging artist on the way up - so thankful!"

ZEPPELIN HAMILTON (VELVET TRIP)

Zeppelin Hamilton is a Wiradjuri artist, actor, model and teacher based on Gadigal Country, Sydney. His music project Velvet Trip blends psych-rock, indie-pop and soulful groove with dreamlike production and deeply personal storytelling. In 2025, he broke through with major festival appearances, national support slots and a sold-out Sydney Opera House show. His 2026 album Glimmers Continued debuted at #5 on the ARIA Australian Album Chart and was named triple j’s Feature Album. Across music, screen and community, Zeppelin’s work continues to expand, grounded in culture, creativity and a distinctly First Nations perspective.

"I’m really grateful to be named an ambassador for MusicNSW. I’m looking forward to sharing, learning, and being part of important conversations facing independent artists alongside their wonderful team. As an independent artist who grew up regionally, I had little access to industry knowledge and had to take the long way around. Because of that, bridging the gap for other artists is something that sits close to my heart. I’ve personally benefited from the work MusicNSW does to support artists, so it’s an honour to now work alongside them."

ZOE CATTERALL (THE BUOYS)

Zoe Catterall is an Eora-based songwriter/musician, best known as the frontwoman of all-woman rock band The Buoys. Recognised for her relatable lyricism and commanding stage presence, Zoe has spent years building the kind of music community she wishes she had when she was growing up - one that is genuinely inclusive and accessible. As an autistic woman who, as a young girl, longed to see greater diversity on stage, she understands firsthand what representation means and what its absence costs. Zoe is also passionate about weaving climate action into her personal and touring life.

“I am deeply honoured to step into this role as a Music NSW Artist Ambassador. In my ten years with The Buoys, advocating for inclusive, accessible spaces has been at the heart of everything I do. I believe Australia is home to some of the world's greatest music, but that brilliance depends on artists being properly supported. I look forward to lending my voice to that cause.”

ALEX THE ASTRONAUT

Alex The Astronaut is the project of Australian singer-songwriter Alexandra Lynn, whose writing blends sharp honesty, humour and emotional depth. Following their ARIA-nominated 2022 album ‘How To Grow a Sunflower Underwater’, Alex released the 2024 EP ‘Rage and All Its Friends’, a more collaborative chapter that brought in Paul Kelly, Lisa Mitchell and Benjamin Francis Leftwich, and was also shaped by a WorldPride songwriting camp led by Troye Sivan.

JANNAH BETH

Jannah Beth is an artist and songwriter whose music blends cinematic electronic production with intimate, diary-like storytelling. Jannah is also the Founder & Director of Offbeat Collective, which formed in 2021 and is dedicated to creating a sustainable music culture that prioritises artists. Jannah created ONE OFF TRAKS and the Up Next program, which both support female, trans and non-binary artists. This year, Jannah releases Orbits and Echoes, marking a return to writing and the beginning of a year of milestone performances.

JEM SIOW (SPEED)

Jem Siow is the vocalist for Sydney hardcore band SPEED. Forming in 2019, SPEED quickly rose to become a global mainstay in hardcore and heavy music, backed by a relentless touring schedule that saw them perform with pioneers like Gorilla Biscuits and Madball, as well as contemporary powerhouses like Turnstile and Knocked Loose. The band's debut album, 'ONLY ONE MODE' debuted at #1 on the ARIA Australian album charts, later winning the ARIA Award for 'Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Release' in 2024. SPEED won the inaugural NSW Music Prize in 2025, using the prize money to host a series of free All Ages hardcore shows in their hometown.
