If you’re a young artist in Western Sydney, we have the perfect opportunity for you to make yourself known, earn some dosh as a performer and contribute to Western Sydney’s growing live music scene.

We’re on the lookout for fresh talent to play our Outset event in October. All you need is to be based in Western Sydney, aged between 15-25, and have a strong 20-30 minute live set (not covers – we want to hear your original music!).

Selected artists will participate in workshops to help them best prepare for live shows and learn new stagecraft tools from live industry professionals and touring artists. They will then flex their skills live at our Outset event, with the date, venue and lineup to be confirmed by the Youth Committee.

What is Outset?

Outset is a professional development program designed for the music event producers of tomorrow. It puts young people in the driver’s seat to create their own all-ages gig, with experienced industry mentors in their corner. Throughout the program, they gain hands-on experience, build real connections and bring live music to their community.

Who can apply to perform at Outset?

Artists and bands can apply to perform at the all-ages Outset event if they:

• Applicants, including the majority of band members (75% and over) are aged 15-25 years of age
• Applicants, including the majority of band members (75% and over) are based in Western Sydney, South West & Greater West
• Have performed previously and can perform a 30-minute set at the Outset event, including at least 4 original songs
• Are eager to learn, collaborate, and fully commit to skill-building and performance development workshops in late September 2026 (dates TBC)

What will selected artists do as part of Outset?

Professional development and paid performance opportunities are available for 4-5 local youth act/bands, including:

• Stagecraft and performance workshops with mentorship by live performance industry professionals and touring artists
• A paid opportunity to perform in front of a supportive all-ages audience and industry professionals
