Introduction

Touring can be a wonderful and rewarding part of your work as an artist, while also being complex and challenging. Additionally, exactly where you’re performing - whether in a metro, regional or remote area - can make a significant impact on your touring experience.

This guide provides a checklist of things to consider when thinking about or preparing for touring in regional and remote areas, including potential challenges and some tips for how to deal with them.

Whether it’s thinking about how to tour safely through areas that are often impacted by fires or floods, minimizing your tour’s impact on local environments, putting backup plans in place for potential vehicle breakdowns, finding accommodation or anything in between, this guide highlights some possible hurdles or obstacles you might face when touring in regional and remote areas, and gives you some practical tips for how to deal with them.
