World class music doesn't require a world class studio - but knowing how to make the most of one changes everything. From the first recording session to release day, this masterclass is designed to take you inside the real life experiences of a regional artist who has successfully recorded and released their own original music.
Join us at Mix Artist Studio to hear from singer-songwriter Emily Lubitz & studio owner & producer Jan Muths as they walk you through the recording & releasing journey of Emily’s #1 ARIA Country charting and acclaimed album Two Black Horses. Leave with a clear, practical understanding of how to record, produce and release your music independently and on your own terms.
You'll get the most out of this masterclass if you are an early or mid-career artist who is ready to record and release an album, single or EP.

Fresh from reaching #1 on the ARIA Aus Country Charts, Emily Lubitz continues her remarkable rise following the success of her critically acclaimed 2025 debut album, Two Black Horses. Formerly the frontwoman of indie-folk pioneers Tinpan Orange, Lubitz has collaborated and toured with the likes of Paul Kelly, Martha Wainwright, Mama Kin, and the late, great Justin Townes Earle.

Jan Muths is a mix artist and in-house engineer & manager of Mix Artist Studios. He has worked as a recording engineer since the late 90s, discovering how to edit analogue tape with razor blades and sticky tape. When mixing, Jan uses fader rides and automation passes as his instrument. Outside of mixing, he is a lecturer at Southern Cross University in Lismore and SAE Byron Bay.
